Where are you located ?

Valtos is approximately 14 miles north of Portree on the A855 road to Staffin. This is a scenic drive with spectacular views of lochs, hills and the sea. The Old Man of Storr and Lealt Gorge are popular attractions en route.

From the kitchen window our guests can enjoy the panoramic views to the Trotternish Ridge, while the front gives an open view of the sea, looking across to Gairloch and the Torridon hills on the mainland. The stunning Kilt Rock viewpoint is only a short walk from the house and the village of Staffin, 3 miles away, has a convenience store, restaurant and cafe.  The Columba 1400 community centre offers internet facilities.  The Glenview Hotel, 1 mile from the house, has a licensed restaurant.

How do we get there ?

By Road

The most popular way of getting to Skye is by car. Follow the A87 through Kyle of Lochalsh, cross the Skye Bridge and continue on the A87 until you reach Skye's main town, Portree. From Portree head north on the A855 and follow the signs for Staffin. Valtos is a distance of approximately 14 miles from Portree.

How to find us

As you near your destination you will pass the Glenview Hotel on your left. The sign post for Valtos is about ½ mile beyond the hotel. Continue in to the village until you pass a house on the right. Drive slowly on and you will see Tulach Gorm on the left, set off from the road up a short driveway. If you reach the Kilt Rock viewpoint car park then you have gone too far towards Staffin.
